Kishwar Desai is an Indian author and columnist. She is the Chair of TAACHT which is working towards setting up a Partition Museum. Her novel, Witness the Night, won the Costa First Novel Award, 2010 in the UK. She had worked in television and broadcast media for over two decades, as an anchor, producer and Channel Head. She writes columns for The Asian Age and a blog for DailyO, (India Today), and is working on a new book on Indian cinema.
Prior to writing three books of fiction, she wrote Darlingji: The True Love Story of Nargis and Sunil Dutt. The biography, based on interviews with the Dutt family and friends, explored their lives in detail and tells the larger story of the evolution of Hindi cinema, and a nation in the throes of change. Desai wrote the play, Manto!, based on the life of the famous Urdu writer, Saadat Hasan Manto, which won the TAG Omega Award for Best Play in 1999.Back
